Nalepa:Flatlands
Flatlands combines deep dub bass, glitchy breaks, bioacoustic atmospheres and beautiful sinewave melodies into Nalepa's patented brand of ambient glitch dub. The closing song Lullaby features the gorgeous keyboard playing of pipe organ superstar Christoph Bull, PhD http://www.christophbull.com/ . Christoph visited the Dub Shack one evening while Nalepa was hanging microphones in the trees in his backyard in order to record the neighborhood birds... the result: an ambient masterpiece in C#.

Sunflowers EP
1320 artist Nalepa follows up his acclaimed Flatlands triple-album debut with the “Sunflowers” EP. The brand-new title track proves classic Nalepa with its mix of lush, cinematic ambience and unexpected rhythm: here, infectious bell melodies and elegant cello do battle with glitchy beats and fat, almost ‘80s synth lines. For the “Sunflowers” remixes, however, Nalepa went back to school. As a professor of Music Technology at Chapman University in addition to being a purveyor of fine electronica, Nalepa teaches his students the entire process of becoming an electronic music artist. The results have proven to transcend academia, however: influential BBC Radio1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs even dedicated a segment of her show to Nalepa’s class, playing several of the students’ standout tracks on her show. Nalepa reached out to those students - Virtual Boy, FuzZ and St. Andrew - to remix “Sunflowers,” and they brought the heat: taking the track to the dancefloor, they hotwired the groove with powerful dubstep and electro elements but left its brain intact. The “Sunflowers” remixes proved so impressive, 1320 chose to release EPs of original material from Virtual Boy, FuzZ and St. Andrew, which all drop simultaneously on the same day as Nalepa’s EP. Rounding out “Sunflowers” is another incredible remix that splits the difference between banging and fascinating, courtesy of beloved San Francisco producer and longtime Nalepa homey Salva (you might’ve heard him guesting memorably on “We Break Bones” from Nalepa’s dubstep project Bass Science). With album art by Visionaire creative director Greg Foley (who also provided the haunting images adorning Flatlands), “Sunflowers” proves yet another distinctive Nalepa experience for all the senses – electronic soup for the soul, and the body, too…

Devil In The Detail Compilation from Interchill Records
devil in the detail is the latest downtempo breaks and bass compilation from interchill records. with a heavy dose of chunk, crunch and glitched out textures, this album presents a diverse range of idm-inspired tunes from producers in the us, uk, holland, switzerland and israel.
compiled by uk-based label dj/webmaster/graphic designer nick edell, this fresh collection of tracks opens a new horizon in the interchill multiverse with a focus on clear minimalism and hyper-refined sounds. emphasizing the growing glitch scene emerging on the west coast of north america, devil in the detail brings together a complimentary selection of tunes from this intriguing musical aesthetic. from the delicate and atmospheric spaces of faction, tripglitch (aka tripswitch) and legiac to the rumbling bass and beats of gaudi, tipper, ooah and vibesquad, the compilation is all about the detail - leaving much to the imagination while revealing the fact that there’s more to the psychedelic world of downtempo electronica than first meets the eye.

(C) 2007 Newport Classic
Newport Classic presents 'Water Music Remix', an EP featuring reinterpretations of Handel's most famous work by eight rising stars of the international electronic music scene. Released this week as an iTunes exclusive, it is available for download for $5.99 featuring over 45 minutes of music from RD, Marsen Jules, Nalepa, RaNDom, Aerostatic, David Last, Rena Jones and Kraddy. The project was developed in conjunction with a live audiovisual event in Newport, RI during Tall Ships weekend as part of the Newport Music Festival.
RD, whose star is fast on the rise thanks to his super tight live sets and quality releases on both Andrea Parker's Touchin' Bass label and his own Designed Disorder imprint, leads off the album with eight and a half minutes of blissed-out downtempo on 'Music for the Royal Pyrotechnics', a reinterpretation of Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks which is often paired together with Water Music in recordings.
Dortmund, Germany-based artist Marsen Jules, a master of orchestral ambient whose recent full-length on City Centre Offices received massive critical acclaim, delivers the beautifully lush and mesmerizing 'Bourèe from Water Music'.
LA-based electronic musician and mad scientist collector Nalepa (Native State Records) runs Handel's masterpiece through his patented ambient glitch dub technology spitting out the dreamy, romantic 'Suite in F (Ambient Glitch Refix)'.
RaNDom, an Italian dub scientist based in Tokyo, drops devastating bass over tight, deep beats and mind-bending psychedelic effects in his epic take on Handel 'Water Music in Dub'.
Brooklyn-based Aerostatic's piece 'Diffraction: Light Through Water' illustrates the hybrid style of Terry Golob and Michele Darling (composer for Sesame Street), combining atmospheric landscapes with downtempo microbeats and subtle, sophisticated, hallucinatory effects.
David Last, who earned heaps of praise from pivotal cultural gatekeepers Pitchfork Media when they declared his debut album 'the best record yet' from the respected Agriculture label, demonstrates his impressive range with his cinematic re-orchestration 'Water Music (Electroacoustic Remap)'.
Cellist, violinist and electronic music producer extraordinaire Rena Jones unfurls the gorgeous 'Adagio e Staccato in Binary', a piece similar in style to her celebrated Native State Records release Driftwood which has kept her busy performing at festivals around the world.
Kraddy, usually known for slaying crowds with his cohorts in west coast supergroup The Glitch Mob, shows off his experimental side by closing out the album with 'Experiment 01', a piece reminiscent of the work of John Cage and the early electronic pioneers.

On Fake Science
4th of July EP

Nalepa's title track, "4th of July" was a featured Test Subject on the Fake Science Lab Report. With sounds and progressions that bring the best parts of Plaid to mind, yet at the same time he adds a twist of grit and glitch, this EP is a great showcase of Nalepa's ability to create haunting melodies.
