NALEPA (Native State Records)

LA-based electronic musician, multimedia artist and mad scientist collector Steve Nalepa combines deep dub bass, glitchy breaks, bioacoustic atmospheres and beautiful sinewave melodies to create his patented brand of ambient glitch dub. Nalepa has produced tracks with such legends as Bill Laswell and Pharoah Sanders, performed with the LA Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall, rocked Flavorpill's Friday's Off the 405 Series at the Getty Museum and played prestigious festivals around the world including Glade Festival, Secret Garden Party and Coachella on The Do Lab Stage. Nalepa is one of the 100 artists featured in Visionaire 53: Sound which includes original pieces by David Byrne, U2, Dan The Automator, Lalo Schifrin, Danger Mouse, Yoko Ono and more. The project includes the title song from Nalepa’s triple album Flatlands, released this Spring on 1320 Records.

Nalepa is considered a key node in the West Coast audiovisual scene, known for his vast and eclectic array of artistic collaborators, cultivated through years of producing spectacular multimedia events and sharing the stage with some of the most revered electronic musicians and video artists in the world. When he’s not in the lab or rocking dancefloors together with Tokyo-based MattB as Bass Science, Nalepa can be found teaching Ableton Live, ProTools and Reason to the students in his Principles of Music Technology classes at Chapman University Conservatory of Music.

Nalepa’s Flatlands triple album (originals, remixes, videos) is available from 1320 Records, the label run by Sound Tribe Sector 9. The remix album includes “Monday (The Glitch Mob Remix),” voted #2 in XLR8R’s Best Mp3s of 2008.
